I currently live in Brooklyn with my three little boys and husband. What can I say, I’m the unofficial -but official - Queen in my house. I love weird combinations of food (more on that later), going out (MOMS CAN DANCE TOO), and seeing the "A-HA" look on a founder's face when they unleash the story that has been buried in them and their business for way too long.
I used to hate when people would say $hit like:
X AMOUNT OF DAYS LEFT IN THE YEAR. WHATCHA GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?
Cue me doing this:
But deep down I knew those countdowns triggered me because I hadn’t accomplished as much as I had wanted to do when I was doe-eyed and optimistic at the top of the year.
So 2 years ago I started doing “a scary” thing at the end of the year, rather than set myself up for massive New Year’s Resolution failure at the top.
And I’m telling you, it has made all the difference.
December 2019: I gave (PUT ON A CREDIT CARD) $10,000 to a woman I only “knew online” to be a part of her Mastermind. (it fundamentally changed my business.)
November 2020: 8 months pregnant, I decided to run ONE more live group Video Storytelling Mastermind and trial some new curriculum (that cohort changed how I now teach and coach)
December 2021: I just signed up for a half-marathon in Central Park December 11th ( I literally want to die at the thought of running in the cold and for that long…AGAIN (I just completed a half marathon this past weekend you can read about here) but I know the HIGH you feel when you complete a run like that. I want that energy and sense of accomplishment going into 2022.
Screw the NEW YEAR resolution. Try doing the Q4 resolution.
Oh, and another secret I’ve learned over the past few years is to stop focusing on the outcome and only focus on output. I can’t control so many things, but I can control the number of times I DO (insert a habit.) I know that the more “scary things” I do that make me want to DIE with discomfort, the better the outcomes for me and my business.
