I currently live in Brooklyn with my three little boys and husband. What can I say, I’m the unofficial -but official - Queen in my house. I love weird combinations of food (more on that later), going out (MOMS CAN DANCE TOO), and seeing the "A-HA" look on a founder's face when they unleash the story that has been buried in them and their business for way too long.
Hi there,
Because I think in stories I MUST close this loop for you.. (me?)
BOTH OF US 🙂
For those following along, I mentioned last week that I was invited to teach to Justin Welsh’s Substack community called “Unsubscribe.”
Justin is the Corporate → Solopreneur Messiah.
He is also the Dodo Bird/Wooly Mammoth example of when you think of a word, someone then thinks of YOU.
When you think “solopreneur,” you think Justin Welsh.
It’s rare. ***note to self extinct animals are not the analogy here but here you go.
Not many people achieve that level of personal brand recognition.
He teaches you how to make the professional pivot to solopreneur through simple systems, and he’s built a massively successful 8-figure business of 1 (but really 2 as his powerhouse wife, Jennifer, runs A LOT behind the scenes)
Here’s what happened when I joined the class and why you should care about this too.
The first thing he shared?
That he forgot to hit record on a past presentation.
And that he and his wife were nervous before their first London Substack meetup (which is where I met him.)
Millions of followers and who knows how many hundreds of thousands of subscribers to his newsletter and yet “EVEN JUSTIN” has tech fails and first-time jitters.
A reminder that showing your real side .. your relatable side…is always on trend.
Speaking of nerves….I was nervous as hell too even though I teach all the time.
Teaching to his audience felt like a big deal (because it was), and it was mostly men, which I personally love since men generally have a harder time tapping into emotional depth online.
But there is a real desire right now.
Why? Well keep reading….
I kicked off addressing the AI elephant in the room when it comes to storytelling.
We’ve all done it. Many of us still do it. I am guilty👏🏼 as 👏🏼charged.
But it’s not working.
We spend all this time asking our AI of choice (hopefully yours is My Storypro…and yes that is a new sales page more on that soon.) to help us BE someone else.
You think you want Mel’s “structure” but you’re asking for her essence.
And I hate to break it to you.
You will NEVER have Mel’s essence.
And this is the crux of the problem.
We’ve decided that with the right template. The right playbook. The right prompt…..THAT is the key to unlocking our main character energy and getting the follower count, waitlist, and revenue we want.
But to do those things sustainably, we need you to tap into YOUR essence.
Justin’s success doesn’t work because of his LinkedIn post formula. It works because his real point of view comes through.
His lived perspective.
The stuff that can’t be templated or copied.
That’s the part a lot of us skip over.
And how do I know this?
This is an old stat from last year but I already had this made and well you get the picture….imagine a higher number now.
What this really means for your content…
You don’t need another “Free prompt” download.
You don’t need to study someone else’s posting schedule.
You need the courage to dig into what you actually believe.
And then go say it.
Self-discovery first. Content second.
That’s how you tell great stories on these platforms and in your business.
When you start there – with YOUR perspective shaped by YOUR complicated life and weird zigzag journey – that’s when people stop scrolling and start paying attention.
And I get that when someone tells you, “Oh, just go show up and tap into your essence,” like, what the hell does that even mean?
So I do have a system for this. A process that works.
I shared it with Justin’s community, and it’s the foundational first stop to learning how to think like a storyteller AND have a different relationship with your AI tools.
This is the differentiator now. Not templates, not formulas – your authentic perspective.
If you’re interested in working with me intimately on this, I have a custom storytelling package. Right now I’m working with three very different women:
• One has a successful YouTube-based business in the crafting space (she made $500K in a week this year) but wants to pivot – we’re working on how to transition her content and storytelling without losing her audience
• Another is an online founder who’s brilliant and I have taken many of her programs but wants to move into thought leadership and stages and just knows that she’s outgrown her messaging.
• The third is a former tech super star turned brick-and-mortar fitness studio owner and wants to reinvent how she shows up online (and she knows she needs to get deep and dirty to do this in an authentic way)
All of this plays into tapping into your essence.
I spent so much time working on the new My StoryPro sales page that I still don’t have a formal offer page for this storytelling package, but reply to this email and let’s chat if you want to know what this kind of support looks like.
Now go enjoy your weekend and do whatever feeds your actual essence – whether that’s hitting up raging raves (I wish!) or shutting down completely with a book and zero human contact.
That’s the energy I want to help you bring to your business storytelling.
Happy weekend!
XO,
Patrice
