I currently live in Brooklyn with my three little boys and husband. What can I say, I’m the unofficial -but official - Queen in my house. I love weird combinations of food (more on that later), going out (MOMS CAN DANCE TOO), and seeing the "A-HA" look on a founder's face when they unleash the story that has been buried in them and their business for way too long.
The next four years are going to be uncharted territory.
I’m well aware not everyone who follows me here wants to hear my political thoughts or cares and trust me, from a business standpoint it would be easier to just “put my head down shut my mouth” and carry on as “business as usual.”
But the nature of the work that I do -encourage people to lean into their whole selves and share stories in order to effect change or have impact -would just mean I am a hypocrite.
I have no idea how a man who has been able to abuse the systems of power for so long, is still able to even be considered for the highest office in our land, much less take that seat.
Men who abuse power are scary for all people -but especially women and marginalized communities.
Men who abuse power and then are still able to get reelected to the President seat is a level of scared I can’t quite put into words.
I can’t imagine how above the law he feels.
No one should ever identify with that feeling -especially our President.
You know what else no one should ever identify with?
Deep fear and abject terror for their life, safety, and human rights, yet here we are. A president who ran on a platform to deny rights and dignity to so many Americans.
This email is not meant to trigger despair, add to the cacophony of noise, express shock at my fellow women (53% white ones to be precise) who voted against their own self interests in order to secure a *BIT of a longer rope for themselves, but rather, this email is an URGENT cry for you to really start showing up louder in whatever it is that you do.
Because being quiet and shrinking down, making yourself less or for some of us trying to now be UNSEEN is not the answer to combat him and the ideology of violence & divide that has already increased -just as that sentiment was prevalent during his first term.
But a lot of people have amnesia.
The storytelling work I do feels more urgent right now.
You should feel more urgent as well as in your life and in your business.
You don’t get to have influence or make an impact in anything (not even your own body for some of us) if you don’t have a voice.
We don’t get to have autonomy by sitting on the sidelines quietly hoping that other humans in power will “make the humanity first decisions” because they don’t and they didn’t.
You don’t get to have any side “understand where you’re coming from” if you aren’t telling those stories.
And I’m not saying this is going to be easy.
In fact, it’s going to be harder to stand up for what you believe and to fight for others that need your voice more than you might need your own.
But this is why I’m doubling down on my commitment to help you find and amplify your voice. I almost feel frantic about it.
In the coming weeks and months, I’ll be launching new initiatives focused on empowering you with the tools, strategies, and confidence to tell your stories effectively. To be able to convey what you do more clearly and more emotionally.
Your story – whether personal, professional, or both – has the power to create ripples of change.
And teaching you how to do this effectively is my superpower and one that I now view as resistance.
✅ They want you quiet.
✅ They want you to fall in line.
✅ They want you to accept the new normal.
✅ They want your voice but only if it doesn’t challenge their comfort -only if it doesn’t speak for those they want silenced.
But that’s exactly why we need you to speak louder.
My weekly newsletter and my social media platforms (Instagram and Linkedin) is where you can always find free information for you to deploy into your business and marketing.
Together, we will continue to work on:
This isn’t just about social media presence or business growth for me – it’s about claiming your space in a world that desperately needs more diverse voices and perspectives.
Remember: Your voice matters. Your story matters. Your truth matters.
And in times like these, when the world feels heavy and the path ahead uncertain, your voice has the power to light the way for others who might be searching for courage in the darkness.
And to my fellow college besties, who flew to Portugal from 2 separate countries, 3 states, 1 being swing the day after the election and who all have varying levels of conservative and liberal tendencies….thank you for proving that we can hold different political views yet still fundamentally believe that those views should not deny anyone their humanity, their voice, or their right to exist freely and safely in this world.
You make me believe we can do better in the future.
I am not going anywhere and I hope you stay on this ride with me.
