I currently live in Brooklyn with my three little boys and husband. What can I say, I’m the unofficial -but official - Queen in my house. I love weird combinations of food (more on that later), going out (MOMS CAN DANCE TOO), and seeing the "A-HA" look on a founder's face when they unleash the story that has been buried in them and their business for way too long.
Hey there,
I’m not one for getting in on the Instagram comment train lest I end up upset, nervous system popping, dropping F bombs all before the hour of 7AM. (have gone through a few Olympian medal stages of that in full disclosure.)
But today I was not to be played with.
All of a sudden I am getting served a lot of Sophia Amoruso content.
Who?!
The OG Girlboss.
The one who basically invented the Girlboss era and then got cancelled for it.
There’s been a lot of heat lately aimed at women -specifically Sophia Amoruso, Mel Robbins, Sheryl Sanders, Reese Witherspoon, just to name a few.
The IG comments are POPPING💀🔪
The high level heat has been because they’re telling other women to learn AI and get involved or else we’re left behind.
And I get the backlash. (I genuinely do.)
There’s a common thread in the criticism: white, wealthy, out of touch, misplaced influence, fear mongering, etc.
And oh, aren’t they profiting somewhere here.
But here’s where I get off the bus…or actually now it’s the Lisbon tram.
If our voices and our capital aren’t in the room, someone else’s is…
and we’ve seen what that builds. (looking at you Grok, etc🤐)
Opting out isn’t principled, it’s just absence and if you’re gone, then how can we channel your values into this future?
And also why is it always women against… WOMEN.
It’s just so boring. Like seriously can I change this channel (aging myself here) so can I swipe (is it left? Right?! I missed Tinder Patrice era by a month.)
If we’re not funding or participating in the AI we want to exist, we don’t slow down the bad stuff… we speed it up.
Oh and the people who aren’t thinking about any of this will just build anyway without us…soooo💅
So when I see women getting dragged for saying “get involved,” I don’t see villains.
I see people trying to activate us via their large platforms. And we need them.
No woman who looks around at what’s being built and says “wait, this isn’t right” is a villain.
The Sam Altmans of the world are not thinking about us.
That’s not a conspiracy theory…it’s just true.
So the move shouldn’t be to opt out and criticize from the sidelines.
The move should be to get in the room, build the tools, fund the founders, support the women and create the world we actually deserve.
My co-founder Vee and I are two women building in one of the most bro-dominated spaces on earth and after 18 months in this space, I assure you…the space needs us.
We didn’t set out to build “an AI product” ***CUE SCARY MUSIC.
We set out to think about the stuff nobody building these tools was thinking about.
We really think about preserving your thoughts (pinky swear.)
We think about what AI actually means for how humans connect with each other.
And sure, not everyone is going to build but it’s important to understand it from the inside so you can choose to go burn it all down to your liking “Stella Got Her Groove Back” style. 🧨
Or rally around the women who DO share your vision for a more human society and use THAT AI…the AI we deserve.
Which is why today’s email is EXTRA important (you still with me here?)
By the by….this email was supposed to be sent earlier this morning but my entire house is sick so here we are.
Also, not sure how my husband ended up in the 5 year old’s room but all I know is I want off this party train. 🫠
So yes… make sure you act on this now because THIS is the AI room you want to be in. (seriously.)
I said yes to speaking at AI Unlocked – a free 3-day virtual conference May 12-14 — So it starts TOMORROW! because it’s the kind of room that might even make you INSPIRED to get involved with AI.
One speaker built a SaaS product with zero coding background. (That’s me. More on that in a second.)
Another added $13K/month after spending one weekend with an AI board of advisors, allowing her more financial freedom to make bigger moves in her world.
Someone will show us how she runs a 16-hour work week using workflows she built during maternity leave.
There are 45+ sessions like this.
Not one of them is a vague “How to Use AI” talk.
Day 1 (Tue, May 12): The AI-Powered Business. Systems, strategy, workflows.
Day 2 (Wed, May 13): Content, Copy & Connection. Marketing, visibility, growth.
Day 3 (Thu, May 14): Build, Launch & Lead. Products, tools, bold ideas.
I’m speaking Wednesday and I decided to go a different route..
My session is called “What AI Is Actually Costing You.”
And how you can get involved without feeling like you’re selling out or contributing to your own jobs being imploded.
On Day 3 I’m also joining a panel on the actual underbelly of building an AI SaaS as a non-technical founder. (read: this $hit is hard…and it’s also why we need capital flowing to women building in this space.)
If you’ve ever been curious what it actually looks like from the inside — that one’s for you.
It’s free and you can buy for only $47 all the life time access of sessions.
BUT BUT BUT… that low price goes up by $20 tomorrow!!
45+ tutorials from real founders who are doing the work.
Women who decided to get involved, figure it out, and bring everyone else along with them.
That’s the energy. And this is the room where AI is not so bad.
Come be part of it! You might even surprise yourself.
Hope to see you on Wednesday!
XO
Patrice
P.S. All-Access Pass is $47 — lifetime replays, live roundtable panels with speakers, and a bonus integration session with Gemma on Day 4. You’ll see the option right after you grab your free ticket.
P.P.S. Yesterday was my third Mother’s Day of the year month. Portugal. UK. USA.
My birthday is also this month.
My husband has a name for May that I won’t repeat here. Pray for him. This is us celebrating Mother’s Day yesterday with friends who moved to Lisbon from LA and also why can’t anyone make girls??!
