I currently live in Brooklyn with my three little boys and husband. What can I say, I’m the unofficial -but official - Queen in my house. I love weird combinations of food (more on that later), going out (MOMS CAN DANCE TOO), and seeing the "A-HA" look on a founder's face when they unleash the story that has been buried in them and their business for way too long.
In March 2022 I had the “best month” of my entire business career. I brought in just shy of $100,000. In a month. I broke some limiting beliefs I had around my own ability to earn and to earn big and when it happened I initially felt like I needed to “shout it out”. Not to brag but as an “it’s possible for you TOO!!” But I didn’t.
Why?
Because much of that money collected in March 2022 was for a group program I was conducting over the course of the next few months. I knew the next few months I would not be pulling in that money because I would be head down in EXECUTING my program.
I also happened to have closed on a few bigger brand projects from the previous year and I was still owed money. So technically that money was “earned” in the previous year.
Oh, and I also owed a portion of that money to a co-partner for a product we run together….but I handle the payments.
So you see, while the figure was impressive and I’m not knocking that it was IS a big breakthrough for me. I resisted the urge to plaster a headline of “6-figure month” all over my social because it felt misleading and I already know how angsty it is to be a founder and to think you’re doing it all wrong and yet be working your ass off….so why on Earth would I want you to potentially feel like shit?
Business owners beat themselves up because of seeing people talk about their $10K, $20K months without talking about the massive debt that they took on to hit that number, or the numerous breakdowns it took them to hit their stride.
If I were to show you my P&L statement for the month of March 2022, it would still be good….but it wouldn’t be $100K good. I guarantee you this is the case for so many of those people who use that headline as clickbait to get you into their next digital course.
So what is my takeaway from this? Entrepreneur success isn’t always what it seems.
The truth is it took me 5 years of working insane hours to be able to “unplug” for 4 weeks and vacation without CRIPPLING work anxiety. (crippling keyword here!). And the way my March cash flow worked….well it just worked really nicely but I have not done that again…..YET:)
The journey you’re on currently IS real. True. And admirable. No matter where you are and if you keep putting one step in front of the other, you will reach that tipping point to the other side that you crave.
