I currently live in Brooklyn with my three little boys and husband. What can I say, I’m the unofficial -but official - Queen in my house. I love weird combinations of food (more on that later), going out (MOMS CAN DANCE TOO), and seeing the "A-HA" look on a founder's face when they unleash the story that has been buried in them and their business for way too long.
Hey there!
Last year I finally met my co-founder Wiebke (but you can call her Vee) in person for the first time.
Some of you might remember that reunion if you follow me on Instagram… where her first words to me were, “OMG your face isn’t symmetrical!!” 🙃🙃🙃
I am still laughing about that.
Vee’s attention to detail is in another stratosphere.
👉 Three years of Vee working in my storytelling agency while I built it up in NYC.
👉 Then building My StoryPro together once I moved to Lisbon.
👉 Daily voice memos.
👉 Midnight WhatsApps.
👉 An organized German and a chaotic American.
Since day 1…we’ve always just worked.
In fact, we have NEVER disagreed on anything and we have very different personalities and approaches.
Two women on opposite sides of the world co-founding an AI company without ever sitting in the same room.
It’s kind of unreal.
And then over our first IRL lunch – me with steak, her with something vegan – told me she almost walked away. *huh!!??
Not because the product wasn’t working.
Not because we were running out of money (although, hi, startup life).
But because she was having a genuine crisis of conscience about building in AI at all.
She looked at me and said something I still think about to this day:
“Are we making things worse?”
She’d been watching what was happening – the slop, the shortcuts, the content that sounds like it was written by a very confident robot.
She’d had clients asking her to build systems that would eliminate human input entirely.
She’d been reading Geoffrey Hinton – the “Godfather of AI,” Nobel Prize winner -express regret about what he helped create.
And she was asking herself: by building another AI tool, are we part of the problem?
I gave her what I can only describe as a Mel Robbins meets Oprah meets MEAN MOM BUT I LOVE YOU intervention across that table.
And this is what I said:
“If the people who actually care about humanity walk away from AI, then only the people who don’t care are left building it.”
And then I reminded her of the questions we ask ourselves on EVERY single feature we build for My StoryPro:
Questions that may sound lofty but are so important to contend with.
Because right now the people building most of your AI are not building through the lens of these questions.
They’re not even asking them.
But do I REALLY need to care about this Patrice!?!?
Yes. And here’s why…even if you are “not into AI.”
Women make up only 22% of AI talent globally. (World Economic Forum)
And less than 14% of senior AI executive roles are held by women. (Women In Tech Network)
Meanwhile — and I need you to sit with this — women’s jobs are THREE TIMES more likely to be automated by AI, confirmed by the International Labor Organization this year.
The roles we fought generations to access – finance, legal, data analysis, administration – are the first ones on the chopping block.
So we’re watching a very specific group of people (men) decide what gets built, who it protects, and whose work it replaces.
And if you’re not in those rooms?
Your perspective doesn’t exist in the product. Full. Stop.
And this is happening right now as you read this newsletter.
But myself and our AI lady team are not here to leave you in doom.
The other side of this is actually extraordinary.
A 2026 study from Edelman Trust Barometer found that 73% of consumers can now spot AI-generated content…and they scroll right past it.
But you know what they DON’T scroll past?
(drum roooollllllllllll) 🥁🥁
Personal storytelling. (I know I’m so predictable)
Story-driven content consistently outperforms everything else on organic reach.
Translation: the more everyone sounds the same and uses the same AI tools and work flows, the more your real voice and perspective becomes your only competitive advantage.
Not your prompting skills or your AI tech stack.
Your actual lived experience and the guts to share it.
Here’s where most people get stuck though.
You know you need to sound more human… so you customize your ChatGPT or Claude (me too), type in a brief, your preferences, upload some files and get something back that’s competent and structured…BUT most of it is STILL completely forgettable.
Arghhhh!!!
BUT WHY PATRICE!??!
Here’s Why:
Chat GPT and Claude are extraordinarily powerful.
But they work with whatever input you give them and most people don’t know how to go deeper on themselves (it’s hard people!) so they hand Claude their question 1 answer -the polished, surface version -and call their LLMs “customized.”
But then wonder why the output still comes back sounding pretty vanilla.
And yes… this is EVEN THOUGH you customized your Claude and ChatGPT on the backend.
This is exactly why we built MyStoryPro the way we did because (GET OUT YOUR HIGHLIGHTERS EVERYONE!!)
General AI retrieves. MyStoryPro excavates.
As a former TODAY Show producer I know the real story lives at question 9.
A guest could walk in with their perfectly polished talking point and it wasn’t until the ninth question that they said the thing that actually mattered and THAT response made the cut for air.
My StoryPro is built to ask those questions.
To refuse your first answer.
To make you go deeper before it lets you off the hook.
(ugh I know we are so annoying)
Because the missing layer in AI right now isn’t a better tool it’s knowing what only you can bring to one.
Which is exactly why Vee didn’t walk away. (are you still with me I hope?!)
We didn’t build it to generate your content faster.
We built it to push back on you BEFORE you even get to the content.
And it’s exactly why I want you in the room with us on Friday, May 8th at Noon eastern.
Me and Vee are hosting a free live workshop where you’ll see exactly what I mean.
You’ll watch us work with a real corporate turned fractional founder, (hey hey Joana!!) live…
using the My StoryPro process and how AI is done when it’s thinking of the human parts of you..FIRST.
You’ll see the moment Joana stops giving the rehearsed answer and says the thing that actually matters. (I hope as this is Live so I guess we shall see..haha!)
And then you’ll watch that conversation turn into finished, publishable content — right there that does NOT sound like it went through Claude or Chat GPT.
If you’ve been using AI but your content still doesn’t sound like you – or if you’ve been watching this whole AI thing unfold wondering how to actually get involved without losing your soul… please come meet us.
We need more women, more diverse voices, more people who care about the humans on the other side of the screen actually building and shaping this.
Wiebke didn’t walk away…and I’m glad she didn’t.
Don’t you walk away either. We need your perspective.
XO
Patrice
P.S. Last week Paola — a Top 1% global podcast host — told me MyStoryPro “completely revamped a workshop she was doing that had low sign-ups.” Her words: “Mind is blown officially. You have a believer in me.” That’s what happens when something finally asks you the right questions and cares about preserving your perspective.
